Stephanie Murphy Obituary

Murphy, Stephanie Powell
September 23, 1962 - November 20, 2010
Stephanie Powell Murphy, granddaughter of Hollywood legends Joan Blondell and Dick Powell, lost her swift and courageous battle with lung cancer at age 48. A resident of Pacific Palisades, Stephanie had a life of adventure. She traveled the world and got to experience living in a way most people never do.
She is survived by her loving family, mother Ann Traub, father Norman Powell, brother Scott Powell, sister Sandra Powell Espe, brother Matt Powell, sister-in-law Laurie Powell, ex-husband Sean Murphy, stepmother Ellen Levine, and best friend Denise Mangimelli.
Her adventurous spirit, her sweetness, her creativity and her generosity will forever remain in the memories of all those who knew her.

Steph, oh Steph, why didn't you call me when you got sick? I wish I'd known, I would've been by your side ever minute of everyday. We were thick as thieves part of our twenties, and boy did we ever have fun, tears and laughs (mostly all laughs). I regret terribly not driving down to visit when you insisted, but I put it off for too long, much, much too long. I think of you ever day, and always will. You will always be "My Brown Eyed Girl" and "my Steph". I can still hear your laughter, that's a treasure that nothing can from me.

I still think of her all the time, we had such fun growing up togther. Even though I haven't spoken with her in 30+ years, the news saddens me terribly. She was a wonderful friend to me, and I'll remember her always and always. Please take care of each other, and know that you all will be in my thoughts and prayers. If you'd like to contact me I'd love to hear from you, email address for me is [email protected]
