Freda Koblick Obituary
August 20, 1920 - June 18, 2011
Sculptor Freda Koblick died June 18 at age 90 in her beloved native San Francisco.
She leaves behind a large circle of loved ones and admirers who will always remember her loving friendship, wit, flair, and zest for life.
Her beloved brother David Koblick, aged 95 briefly survived her.
A pioneer in creating cast acrylic sculpture, Koblick was largely responsible for that material, called by some "plastic", being recognized as a medium suitable for fine art. Her pieces incorporated an imaginative and playful exploration of transparency and light. The Creative Arts League named her a "Living Treasure of California".
A memorial will be held in Koblick's Mission District studio later this year.

Having known Freda, and spending time in her studio,
I am sad to know this wonderful artist and woman will no longer
be answering the door. Sweet memories will be kept in my heart.
