Columbus, GA- Beatrice Hancock Thompson, 80, of Columbus, GA passed away Friday, February 09, 2018 at her home in Columbus. A funeral service will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST with the Reverend Deawn Richards officiating. The interment will conclude the service at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST.
Mrs. Thompson was born December 1, 1937 in Buena Vista, GA to the late Alfie Lucile Posey Hancock and Captain Van Riper Hancock. She was a member of The Church of Columbus. She retired from Gordy Construction Company as office Manager. She loved reading and was very dedicated to her church.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-two years, John Carlton Thompson; two sisters, Era Dell Hastings and Frances Smith; and one brother, Chester Hancock.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Michelle Karleskint (Randy) of Skiatook, OK; two sons: Curtis Wayne Thompson (Judy) of Columbus, GA and Brian Keith Thompson of Phenix City, AL; two sisters: Nera Bell Cook of Columbus, GA and Betty Jean Hanner of Ashburn, GA; eight grandchildren: Ashley Brooke Stewart (Josh) of Warner Robins, GA, Sarah Paige Thompson of Columbus, GA, Brianna Dawn Helms (Brandon) of Phenix City, AL, Andrew Blake Thompson of Phenix City, AL, Kristin Michelle Karleskint of Stillwater, OK, Andrew Scott Karleskint of Kansas City, MO, Tim and Christyn Champagne and Jennifer and Brandon Nees all of Broken Arrow OK; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews .
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Church of Columbus, 2001 Double Churches Road, Columbus, GA 31909.

Such a sweet lady. Great memories of her growing up. Aunt Beatrice made everyone feel so special and i miss her. Wayne, Brian, and Michelle, yall speak volumes about her in the way you all turned out, great people there.

May the Lord comfort the family at the loss of their loved one. I am related to your family
through the Hancock side, as my grandmother was Nettie Lee Hancock Whitley Proctor (sister to Cap Hancock)and Beatrice's aunt.
Nettie died in about 1966. My Daddy, Leonard Whitley, was her son and nephew to Uncle Cap Hancock. I remember Uncle Cap and Aunt Alfie visiting us often and my parents visiting them. I didn't know Beatrice after all of us grew up, but I saw this obituary. Unfortunately we could not attend the services due to my husband's eye dr. appt and my cataract surgery. We are friends with Dottie and James Cook also. Love and Prayers to
all the family.

Such a sweet lady and a great family. Growing up with her as an aunt was so special. When she would see me it was as if there was no one else in the room. She would notice me, open her eyes wide, start coming towards me, hold out her hands and grab my face and then would scoop me up and give the best hugs. She was a blessing. Wayne, Brian, and Michelle, you have all been blessed to have such a great mom growing up, and she was lucky to have Such loyal children to take care of her these past several years.
