Conrad Durgin Obituary

BINGHAM -- Conrad M. Durgin, 69, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005.

He was born March 28, 1936, in Waterville, the son of Millard E. and Agnes M. (Ronco) Durgin. Conrad was educated in Bingham schools. On Feb. 18, 1956, he married Helen Quimby in Madison.

Conrad had been a long-time resident of Bingham. He had been employed as a truck driver for S.D.Warren Co. several years, was a police officer for the town of Bingham and a deputy sheriff for Somerset county, worked as a night watchman at Quimby veneer mill in Bingham and for more than 20 years owned and operated Durgin's Cash and Carry on Main Street in Bingham.

He had been a member of the Bingham Lions Club.

Conrad was an avid outdoor person and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

His son, Paul L. Durgin and a half-brother, George Boutin, died previously.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen (Quimby) Durgin of Bingham; his daughters, Debra M. Curtis and her husband, Duane, of Mapleton, and Cindy L. Dano and her husband, Raymond, of Raymond, N.H.; grandchildren Sara L. Brandolini of East Hampstead, N.H., Laura Bernaby of Manchester, N.H., Jeffrey A. Curtis of Mapleton and Jason P. Durgin of Bingham; a great-granddaughter, Anabella N. Brandolini; a half-sister, Muriel Dumont, of Saco; a son-in-law, Kenneth M. Bernaby of Sandown, N.H.; and his golden retriever, Milo.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St., Bingham.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Bingham Village Cemetery.
