CALDERHEAD, Gordon Arthur. Eighty-two. Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Gordon passed away suddenly on August 2, 2004. For the past twenty years Gordon lived on Salt Spring Island with his loving spouse, Joan Calderhead. They had been married fifty-seven years and had eight children. Gordon worked as a professional engineer his entire career after graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1945. He met Joan at UBC. Most of his working life was in the Montreal area, first at CIL and later at SNC-Lavalin. Though he retired to the west coast, Montreal remained dear to his heart because of its distinctive culture and especially the people. He was very active in his community; whether it was political activities, official community committees or morning golf games with the Fickle Fingers. Gordon was committed to community and believed in a strong Canada. He is sadly remembered by his children: Peter, Elizabeth, Paul, Vincent, Veronica, Stephen, Daniel, Joan and his thirteen grandchildren.
