Passed away peacefully at Castle Peak Retirement Residence on February 17th, 2021 at the age of 96. Maggie grew up in Winnipeg. Her passions as a young girl were voice and piano. She excelled at both, performing vocally on radio in Winnipeg prior to marrying her late husband Max and moving to Geraldton in 1945. Two years later it brought them to Longlac where they raised their two girls and Maggie continued to teach music and involve herself in musical productions. Her leisure time was spent enjoying curling and golf. In 1975, they moved to Port Carling and opened a business called the Color Shop, where gift items, paint and stain were sold. After a number of years, they retired from their business and moved to Bracebridge, where Maggie continued with the Rotary Musical productions as pianist and musical advisor. She also continued to teach piano and gave 25 years to volunteering at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (formerly Bracebridge Memorial Hospital). Maggie is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughters Maxine (Gillis Lemieux) and Barbara (the late Fred Berday) as well as grandsons Salem, Greg, Eric, Jim and step-granddaughters Kareen, Suzanne and several grand grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her friends and extended family as she was always the life of the party. On behalf of Maggie, we would like to thank Dr. Mason and the staff at the hospital who took such good care of our mom and a very special thanks for the exceptional care given at Castle Peak Retirement Residence. You are all loved. At Maggie's request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation, OSPCA-Muskoka or Alzheimer Society of Muskoka.
