Judith Marie LaPorte Brzoska April 12, 2012

Born May 11, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI to Phillip and Maxine (Fiedrick) LaPorte, Judy graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee. In 1961 she obtained her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Marquette University where she later earned her B.A. She worked in private practice in Madison, WI and later taught Dental Hygiene at Madison Area Technical College while attending the University of Wisconsin to obtain an M.A. in Educational Administration.

On May 12, 1973 she married David William Brzoska of Wilmington, DE and they moved to Springfield, OH where Judy became the founder and first chairperson of the Dental Hygiene program at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. The program was accredited in record time and has since provided the region with over 700 Dental Hygienists. In 1976 they left Ohio and took over the dental practice of Dr. C. J. Alexander in Lawrence, KS, where they worked together until their retirement to Naples, FL in 2003.

Judy always had a love for the theater and was active in the Madison Community Theater. In Lawrence, she helped found the Friends of the Kansas University Theater and in Naples she was an ardent supporter and first season ticket holder of The Theater Zone.

Her keen interest in travel, nature and photography, combined with her leadership and organizational skills, led to her direction of over 20 adventure tours and small boat cruises from the Caribbean to South Africa to Peru, Brazil, Greece, Bali and Cambodia. In Lawrence, KS, she led pilgrimages for the parishioners of St. John's Church to Mexico, Ireland and Italy. In Naples she quickly became involved in committees in the Island Walk Community and served as Historian of the Naples Garden Club.

Judy is survived by her husband, David of Naples; her brother and sister-inlaw, Tom and Juli LaPorte of Paradise Valley, AZ.; her brother-in-law and sisterin-law, John and Linda Brzoska; her nieces, Olivia, Christina, and Natalie LaPorte; and nephews, Tommy LaPorte, and Mark and Daniel Brzoska.

A memorial service will be held at St. Ann R.C. Church, 475 Ninth Avenue South, Naples, FL at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23rd.

Memorial donations may be made to The Theater Zone (www.TheatreZone-Florida.com) or the Naples Botanical Gardens (www.naplesgarden.org.)

Dave, we think of you often and miss you as our dentist. We are back in the old neighborhood of Pleasant Grove. We bought the house that the Freeman's lived in, the brick rancher at the bottom of the hill. I always enjoyed my visits when Judy cleaned my teeth. I am sure we did more visiting than teeth cleaning. Loved her so much. Hope you are well and enjoying your retirement chasing all the bugs.

I'll miss my dear, dear friend. Even though the years have separated us by thousands of miles, the memories of weekends in Madison and youthful caprices have made my life richer. Thank you for being there and talking me out of going to dental school.

My mom, my 4 kids and me...I've probably changed a lot since you last saw me!
Dr. B:
My condolences for your loss. I went to your dental office through my teen years - I still have memories going to your office every 6 months. Mrs. B was always catching up on my current events and keeping tabs on my brother and me. Not sure if she knew, but I married a dental hygienist as well...! She was a special and memorable lady! Our best to you during these difficult times -

Art Tsubaki (my mom, Lilly Tsubaki, sends her greetings as well)

Dr. Brzoska,
We are so sorry to hear about Judy. She was always so cheerful and talkative while attending to our dental cleanings. We appreciate all she did to make our dentist visits pleasant. I also remember she let us taste the figs from the fig tree in sunroom.
She was a special lady.
Our sympathies,

Hello David, We were so sorry to hear about your loss of Judy, a lovely, fun lady. She watched our children grow up in your dental and hygenic chairs, easing their childhood fears of going to the dentist. They all remember having such a great time in her room. We have missed her beautiful smile in Kansas. Your friends, Darrel & Leah Rurode.

Mrs. Brzoska set very high standards for SCC hygiene students. I have always considered myself very fortunate to be a student during her time there. She had a keen balance of what was important (life) and what was vey important (highest level of quality care). Thanks Mrs. Brzoska, my lile and career was richer because you always cared. May you rest in peace rejoicing in heaven with the angels.
Your grateful student,
Mike Kidd

Dr. Brzoska,
I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Judy's passing. I was just thinking about her, watching a Hoover Dam documentary, reflecting on how much I enjoyed her lovely genuine laugh when we were all there for a dental convention.
While no amount of words can ease the unimaginable pain you are going through, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
