Steven J. Sendykar Jr.

Fredericktown - Steven J. Sendykar Jr., age 94, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 14, 1926 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, the son of Steven J. and Katherine (Tudor) Sendykar Sr.

Steven proudly served as a rifleman and machine technician in the United States Army during World War II. After serving his country he owned and operated his own diesel garage, Steve's Garage in Newark, Ohio. He retired after 40 years as an over the road truck driver working mostly for Harco.

Steven attended the Seventh-day Adventist Hill Church in Mount Vernon. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Although he could be stubborn at times, Steven will always be remembered for his loving heart and his willingness to always lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Harsany Sendykar; his children, Susan (William) Darnes, James (Carrie) Sendykar, Janie (John) Lang, James (Cynthia) Harsany, David (Colleen) Harsany and Stephen Harsany; ten grandchildren, Mason and Madison Darnes, Cassandra (Ricky) Watson, Jarret Sendykar, Brittany (Nathan) Barchalk, Adam Lang, Crystal Stitzer, Caitlin (Bruce) Hastilow, Joshua (Elizabeth) Harsany and Steven Harsany; six great grandchildren, Noelle River Darnes, AnnaGrace, Maci and Jace Lee Watson, Arianna Stitzer and Zachary Harsany.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Holetich and Catherine Sire.

The family will observe a Celebration of Life service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Steven J. Sendykar Jr.
