COAL TOWNSHIP - Ronald A. Polastre, 82, of 1830 Maple Ave., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at Serenity Gardens, Kulpmont, where he was a guest for the past two years.

Ronald was born in Shamokin, March 24, 1938, a son of the late Pauline (Oravitz) Price. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Joseph and Veronica Oravitz.

Ron graduated from Shamokin High School in 1956.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960.

He was employed as a serviceman at Sears for more than 30 years.

An active and dedicated member of Grace Lutheran Church, Shamokin, Ron served on the church council and property committee. He also was the caretaker at the church for many years.

Ronald was a life-member of the East End Fire Co., Coal Township; and the Six-County Firemen's Association.

His pastime was "tinkering." He could fix anything and everything - cars, appliances, TV's, etc.; doing it for family and friends and always without charge! An avid movie buff, he especially liked watching old Westerns. Ron's favorite thing of all was being a Pop Pop to his grandchildren. He loved them both with all his heart and was proud of Cameron attending Penn State University.

The staff at Serenity was part of his family and are thanked for their excellent care.

Ronald is survived by a daughter, Sandra Wayne and her husband, John, of Coal Township; a grandson, Kegan Polastre, his wife, Olivia, and soon-to-be born grandchild in June; and granddaughter, Cameron Wayne.

In addition to his mother, wife and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wally Price; and a sister, Barbara Jones.
