An old saying is " laughter is the best medicine " then certainly Chuck proved himself to be a doctor of comedy. His uncanny ability to make people laugh was truly a gift and he used it to help others. He lived a long life which indicates he had a special might that is rare these days. ( Psalms 90:10). He will be fondly remembered by many.

Chuck Barris was a crazy genius and I have to thank him for all the opportunities that he gave me in the beginning of my career. Have been on almost a dozen of his shows as different characters - he really pushed me into trusting my instincts when it came to character development. After my first appearance on the Gong Show as Meesta Lee - he had me on all of his shows including the Rah Rah Variety Show and his pilot the Comedy Courtroom which at the time was too risky for TV. I have so many great stories of my life because of him and becoming part of the Barris TV family and even working as a Dating Game Chaperone in the old days! Chuckie Baby will be deeply missed. He was a generous, one of a kind gently man who will always be remembered as a comedy Genius by me personally and his millions on fans. May he forever - rest in eternal peace! - Prentice Lennon

I had many good memories of Chuck Barris on the Gong show all those years. After one act was gonged he made the remark..."That was about as funny as a wet toilet seat......then again, I like sticky buns." Amazing how I still remember that. I saw in the obituary that his daughter preceded him in death. That's too bad. His daughter was a part of numerous episodes on the Gong Show as a young girls. Thanks for all the good shows.

My fondest memories of CHUCK was watching him on "THE GONG SHOW" now that was a hilarious variety show. Common folks could come on and perform a talent (talent show). Grew up watching and loving the Gong Show. I am so sorry for your great loss. I hope that the promise found in Hosea 13:14 can bring the Barris family some comfort.

Barris was a genius in his ability to make the mundane relevant! A master of making the ludicrous and looney mainstream. Songwriter, creative producer, jokester, Barris even made the handclap a part of his schtick an epic event(when he faked out the viewers!) If I need a lift, I watch The Gong Show and I'm howling. Thanks for the laughs and goofiness. My prayers and thoughts are with the Barris family.

I used to work for Chuck and he became a beloved friend. He was the most brilliant man I ever knew. He was also the sweetest - always taking the time to talk to everyone - servers, chauffeurs, bussers and anyone who said hello to him. He always acted like he knew you, and when you walked away, you felt as if you knew him. No person was below him. I am in crushed that he is gone. He should have lived forever. But as Chuck would say, "shoulda, woulda, coulda". I have wonderful memories with him in NY, LA and Saint Tropez. I will keep you in my heart forever, "Bill".

Your instructions were, "perform really bad and if you get gonged, I'll pay you an extra fifty bucks." Best time in my life. After that I got a bunch of walk-ons which really paid the bills. 20 years later I was walking along a busy street in Monte Carlo and you recognized me and called me by name - impressive.
