Marilyn Wallace Obituary

WALLACE--Marilyn S. Author, teacher and mentor, loving wife, adoring mother and true friend, Marilyn slipped away painlessly Saturday morning, July 29th, after battling cancer with her typical grace and strength. She is survived by her husband Bruce, her two sons Mark and Jeremy, her sister Karen, her brother Steven, her father Irving Weiss, and a legion of friends and other loving family. She asked to be remembered only with fondness. A celebration of her life will be held in August. She will be dearly missed.

What a wonderful celebration of life was held. I can only add that a beautiful life will surely be missed by all who were touched by Marilyn.

Peace...

We met at a writers conference before either of our first books were published, and we were instant friends, close from that day on. It is such a tribute to her that so many people who met her formed an immediate enduring bond. Mutual friends I've talked to all mention her beautiful infectious laugh--to a person, it's what we remember first about her. And then we recall the times she was there with the right questions, the fair-minded advice, the kind love, the dazzling puns, the questing spirit, the exhilliarating suggestions, the philosophical musings. I don't think anyone ever spent even one dull second with her. Her anthologies were called Sisters in Crime, and she really did transform us into sisters, all of us who collected around her. My deepest gratitude to her family for welcoming so many of us "sisters" into your lives, too. I will always love Marilyn, and I will always love you.
