I was a camper at Camp Stadelman. Mr. And Mrs. Stadelman treated their campers as though we were their children. The summers spent with them were fun filled and magical.

Egon Stadelman was a kind and generous man, who together with his wife Marian made their vision of a summer camp for refugee kids a reality. I spent about five years at Camp Stadelman as camper and counselor. Some of my happiest growing-up memories come from there. Egon's knowledge and love of music and opera influenced my life-long enjoyment. For that and for the many other personal and professional growth opportunities afforded me at Camp Stadelman, I will always be profoundly grateful.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Egon Stadelman. Camp Stadelman, which I attended for three years as a camper and served for two years as a counselor, was an intrinsic part of my childhood and adolescence and Egon was the inspiration. The camp was a refuge for refugee children like myself and led to long lasting friendships and wonderful memories.
My condolences to Marion.

With Egon Stadelman, the German-American community has lost a dear friend whose achievements will be hard to match.
After having been forced to leave his native country, Egon Stadelman never looked back in anger, but dedicated every moment of his life to fostering the understanding and later strengthening the friendship between America and Germany. Germans followed his reports and interviews on "Voice of America", and German-Americans read his stories in the "Staats-Zeitung" and other local publications. They always mirrored the deeply rooted optimism of Egon Stadelman.
Egon Stadelman will be deeply missed by his readers, friends and everybody in the German-American community.
My condolences to Marian.
