Ocala - Mr. Ben Gurczynski, 83, of Ocala, Florida went home to the Lord Saturday November 5, 2016 at Life Care Center of Ocala. Born in the Bronx NY; as a young child his family relocated to Somerville, New Jersey. Ben was an adventurer with a passion for the life of a cowboy and found himself working on ranches in Texas; soon after became involved in the Rodeo circuit and a member of the Professional Rodeo Association. Ben met the love of his life, Mary, while home mending from an injury. They married soon after; settling down in NJ to raise a family. Ben spent the majority of his working career as a farrier enjoying his passion for horses. He finished his working years at Ortho Pharmaceutical before retiring to the former home of his parents in Ocala, Florida in the mid 1990's.
He was an active parishioner at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church where he loved serving our Lord and was involved in Prayer Group, Bible Study Group, Adoration and attended daily Mass, as well as offering many rides to parishioners in need.
He was a devout family man who made sure our childhood was filled with adventure. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Mary.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Gurczynski of Ocala, and Richard Gurczynski of Bangor PA; daughters, Karen Raab and Rita Gurczynski, both of Phillipsburg, NJ. He is also survived by his brother, Hank Gurczynski of Sebastian FL, eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 6-8pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala. Mass will follow on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 9 am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 SE 17th Street, Ocala FL officiated by Father Pat. Entombment will follow at Highlands Memorial Park Mausoleum with Father Mike. The family thanks all that have been a part of Ben's life and have helped in so many ways over the years. Rita & Family - We are truly saddened to hear your message about your Dad's passing. Ben and I worked many, many hours together at Ortho. He touched the hearts of everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him. He was truly a beautiful person to have known. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.

Michael and family- So sorry to read this. I have known your Dad my entire life. Our families have been so intertwined over the years. I remember the days " down the shore" and on Bartine Street. Cherish those memories to get you through the challenging days.
