GIROUX, George Bernard
After a sudden and tough battle with cancer, George Bernard Giroux passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at the age of 58, with his family and friends by his side. Born in Victoria, B.C., George was an entrepreneur, a father, a brother, a coach and a friend. He built his own software development company and was owner of the Metcalfe Jets Junior B hockey team. He recently achieved his lifelong dream to build a house on the shore of Round Lake, where he and his Blues Brothers beagle - Elwood became year round residents of that small community. George leaves behind his two children Jessica (Ives) and Nicholas, his mother Claire Giroux (nee St. Georges), his brothers Michael (Nathalie) and Robert (Barbara), nephews David and Nathaniel and nieces Catherine, Madeleine, and Pascale. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Giroux. There will be a Reception at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Sunday, December 18, 2016 between 2 and 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to support the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation.

I am so saddened to hear about your loss with the passing of your father, your Son and brother.

My father(Leo McGee) always enjoyed his talks with George, I believe he saw a lot of his cousin Gerald in him.

My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. May the memories of George shine through in all he left in your hearts.

George called our house all the time to talk to Darrell. He called in the morning, at lunch and at supper. He always had something to talk over with the coach. Oh and then he would call again with just one more thing. And often in the background was the sound of a beagle. Now I am sad that I cannot remember our last conversation ...miss you already George. Such a great man...he gave and gave and gave. Miss you already.

There truly are not any sufficient words in our vocabulary to express the profound sadness I have had since learning of my dear friends' passing. George and I were constants in each others lives and when I spoke with him not more than 6 weeks ago, we had begun our anuual "keggor"....our annual steak dinner at the Keg.
George embodied what it is to be a true gentleman's gentleman. His friendship was and will always be as true and genuine as it gets. My kids new George the same way I did and they hold him in as high esteem as do I.
Dearest Claire, Jessy and Nick, Michael and Robert and all your families, I cannot begin to imagine your sorow, but I know full well you are left with more beautiful and loving memories to carry you forward. You have all of our love, support and prayers moving forward and we know all too well how George loved you all so very much.
Godspeed to all of you.
