Donald "Don" Cohenour
Creve Coeur - CREVE COEUR ~ Donald "Don" Edwin Cohenour, 91, of Cochrane, Wisconsin, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Gundersen St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha, Minnesota. He was formerly of Creve Coeur.
Born June 6, 1929 in Pekin to Edwin Oren and Marjorie Irene (Cain) Cohenour, he married Rose M. Hoyle on August 8, 1951 in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Surviving is his wife of 69 years; two loving daughters, Vicky Lynn Burke of Lakeland, Florida and Linda Lou (Bob) Tuxen of Cochrane, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Peterson and Veronica (Devin) Button, both of Minnesota and Dawn Luane of Florida; four great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; two great-great-grandsons; one half-sister and two step sisters.
Don was a veteran of the United States Army.
He worked as a billing clerk at Peoria Union Stockyards for 36 years and later worked at Raber Packing Co. for 6 years, before retiring in 1983.
A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Don enjoyed woodworking and working in his yard. He will be greatly missed and forever in his family's hearts.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & crematory in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of masks will be followed. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association, Central Illinois Chapter, 614 West Glen Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61614.
