Lorna D. Crittenden

Reno - Lorna Dawn Crittenden passed away December 18, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born in Postville, Iowa to Frederick and Vera Luhman and was the youngest of three siblings. She graduated from Excelsior Union High School in Norwalk, California, continued her education at Cottey Jr. College and then was accepted in the Los Angeles County General Hospital program and became a registered nurse.

Lorna married Robert (Bob) Crittenden and they had four daughters. Bob was in the U.S. Forest Service and the family moved, living in many states, until he retired in Reno. Lorna enjoyed being a nurse and retired from St. Mary's Hospital in 1994. She loved traveling, music and spending time with family and her pets. She was an accomplished pianist, an active member of St. John's Presbyterian Church and an active member of PEO Chapter T. She had a quick wit, enjoyed a good laugh and loved playing games with her family.

Lorna is preceded in death by her husband Bob, her daughter Gail Martindale, her sons-in-law Tony Karr and Earl Martindale, her brother Lloyd and sister Cressa. She is survived by her three daughters Cathy Karr, Linda O'Brien (Mark) and Susan Proctor (Jim), her 8 grandchildren Chelsea Green (Rowdy), Bob Martindale, Bethany Kymes (Steven), David Karr, Aaron Karr, Michon O'Brien (Erik), Callista O'Brien, Jacob Proctor, and her 2 great-grandchildren Benton and Miles Green.

A special thank you to Norma and all the caregivers at Heart To Heart Group Home and to nurse Heather and A Plus Hospice. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Mt. View Cemetery for immediate family. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date when friends and family can safely gather. Memorial contributions may be directed in her memory to your favorite animal charity or the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
