Bill Cooper Obituary

1953 ~ 2013
MIDVALE, UT-Bill James Cooper was born to Gary William and Madge Nielson Cooper on March 28th, 1953. Bill was a hard worker, roofer and jack of all trades whose kind loving spirit was felt by all who knew him. Bill served in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1975.
At the time of his unexpected passing in Arkansas on June 7th, Bill was doing the things he loved most: fishing and visiting his children and grandchildren. The small boat he was in capsized, casting him into the Red River near Texarkana. Bill had spent several years living in Arkansas before returning to Utah in 1997.
Bill is survived by his mom and dad, Madge and Frank DeForest; five children, Faith Cenobio, Michael (Kelly) Richardson, Julie Lopez, Sarah Miller and Stephaine (Ramiro) Barron; his brothers and sisters, Ray Cooper, Laurie (Chris) Morrow, Lynda Gibson, Bud (Kary) DeForest, Mick (Vicky) DeForest, Toni (Tom) Lopez, George (Ann) DeForest and Darrell (Sandy) DeForest; and 15 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Gary W. Cooper (1962) and an infant grandson, Anthony Miller (2001).
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on June 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Christian Assembly, located at 300 East 8000 South in Midvale, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all who read this please pass onto others the spirit of kindness and generosity Bill showed during his lifetime.

Bill was my best friend and like a brother hard working and honest. I remember him often I miss his cheerful nature and great sense of humor. And look forward to being reunited at the resurrection of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Rest in peace dear friend.

I CAN TRULEY SAY DAD YOU WILL BE MISSED. WE MAY HAVE NOT BEEN BLOOD BUT YOU NEVER LET ME FORGET THAT I WAS YOUR DAUGHTER AND WHATEVER WAS GOING ON YOU LOVED ME DEEPLY. EVER SINCE I WAS A YOUNG LOST GIRL YOU GAVE ME THAT GUIDANCE I NEEDED, YOU SUPPORTED MY CRAZY DECISIONS EVEN THOUGH YOU DID NOT ALWAYS AGREE. YOU DEEPLY TOUCHED MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF EACH AND EVERY PERSON YOU MET. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I MISS YOU AND HOW MUCH I LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU BEING MY DAD. I LOVE YOU. I KNOW ONE DAY ILL SEE YOU AGAIN, UNTIL THEN I LOVE YOU PAPA

Your voice always made me so comfortable, like nothing could ever go wrong. It'll be hard not ever hearing it again. I'm happy for the time we spent together, and for the time my wife and son got to spend with you. You were a big part of making them feel like welcome to the family. You always did a lot for family. We will always love you, and will miss you very much uncle Bill.

I knew Bill for 9 years. He was my neighbor and friend. The first couple of years after I moved into the neighborhood, he was so funny. He was in his yard and I was in mine. He had his 60's music playing and had friends over. He got his head over the fence and asked if I would hang out with him and I told him of course! I said that is so sweet that you are asking me out... He said something no not really asking you out just want to get to know you using some other awkward words. Another time my two female dogs got into a vicious fight and I yelled out for Bill to come over and help me. Bill was almost over the fence but didn't jump it. He yelled out "if I come over this fence, your dog will eat me ."" The last time I saw him, he was soooo excited to go to Arkansas to see his daughter and grandkids. He was beaming as he told me about it. I told him we would have a beer when he got back. I am so sorry you are gone Bill. You always looked like something left over from the 60's and had a real heart of gold. Always kind, respectful and funny! I put up Guns and Roses' song "Knock knocking on Heaven's door for you on Facebook." Vaya con Dios and thanks for the 9 years of friendship.

Billy I regret not spending more time with you and knowing you better. Life had us go in different directions and it is my loss for not making a better effort to spend time with you. Gary was so proud of his children. I hope you are together now. Love Dennis Cooper

To my brother Bill. I could never imagine not having you in our lives, and this has been difficult. Chris and I will especially when we go to Oregon. You always made our trip fun and crazy. I love and will miss you more than words could ever say. Thank you for always taking the time to spend together and I will meet you again at the big pool table in heaven.
