Billie M. Burris

Shreveport, LA - Billie Muckleroy Burris was born in Crockett, Texas on April 2, 1926 and passed peacefully into eternity on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Her life was filled with a loving family, meaningful friendships, and a deep faith.

Billie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Frank Burris; and her eldest daughter, Deborah Burris Vaughan. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Burris Bassel and husband Mark of Dallas, TX, and Mary Burris Maxwell and husband David of Shreveport, LA; two grandsons, eight granddaughters; and 18 great-grandchildren whom she loved very much! The youngest of eight children, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Billie loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a loyal fan to her Texas roots. Most of all she loved her family, cherished us and she will forever be loved by us.

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was a parishioner for over 50 years. A private graveside service will follow the Mass.

Her family would like to say a special 'thank you' to the wonderful caregivers at Montclair Park Retirement Center, especially her dear friend, Gloria Turner and the caring people she bonded with during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
