Mary Gascon Obituary
Mary E. Gascon, age 77, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away Thursday, September 1st, 2016 in the comfort of the home she designed and decorated. Mary was born in Corning, NY on August 18th, 1939, the daughter of the late Alfred W. Allen and Winifred V. Holton Hendrickson. She was a legal secretary for Henry Valent and had worked for Patterson Financial of Watkins Glen, NY. She was very musically gifted, sharing her talents with the clarinet and piano with the Watkins Salt Band. She loved cooking, waiting on others and was a fantastic hostess. Mary enjoyed reading and loved to read non-fiction books. She also enjoyed decorating and interior design. She loved sitting on the porch of her home taking in the spectacular view of the Seneca Lake landscape. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bill; sons, William Gascon Jr. of Rochester and Jack (Kathryn) Gascon of Burdett; grandchildren, Courtney Gascon of Horseheads and Mitchell Gascon of Burdett; sister, Roxanne Decker of Heath, OH; brothers, Gordon (Susan) Hendrickson of Beaver Dams and Larry Hendrickson of Alpine, NY. She is also survived by several Step Siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Maria Bucchioni. Friends and family may gather to share memories of Mary on Tuesday, September 6th for 4 to 7 pm at the Haughey Wood Funeral Home, 119 5th St. Watkins Glen, NY. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 7th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at the Montour Cemetery in Montour Falls, NY.
