Doris Johnston Obituary
Funeral services for Doris Estelle Johnston, 93, of Shreveport, LA formerly of Rayville, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Rayville United Methodist Church, Rayville, LA with Rev. John Robert Black officiating. Interment will follow in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
Doris was born March 11, 1918 in Rayville, LA to Frank and Gertrude Nubles Dixon and passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Shreveport, LA.
Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her husband, Foster Johnston; son, Billy Foster Johnston; parents, Frank and Gertrude Dixon; and sister, Edith Boyd Scott.
Survivors include her daughter, Lauren Johnston of Bossier City, LA; granddaughter, Amanda Hansford Cage of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Penny Hammons and husband, Doyle of Rayville, LA; nephew, Dixon Boyd and wife, Shelby of Bastrop, LA; niece, Jennifer Boyd of Rayville, LA; and nephew, Will Edward Jones and wife, Phyllis of Rayville, LA; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Doyle Hammons, Dixon Boyd, Bill Carr, Aubrey Sayes, Whit McKinley and Matthew McKinley.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Dearest Lauren, Amanda and family our dearest sympathy and prayers are now with you in the loss of Ms Shortie. She was a dear kind "southern lady" both in her heart and soul and in the wonderful way she lived her life. Anybody that came to know her on a personal basis was blessed to call her friend. My memories of her having us in her beautiful home and making us so welcome each and every time are very precious to me. I know that you were always there for your daddy to the end and now for your mother. God will surely call you one of his dearest angels for taking such good care of both of them until he called them to be in heaven. Please know that my prayers are with all of you. God bless you.
