Just heard of Bernie’s passing from another mom at pick up today. My boys Donnie and Carson Cruse were riders for 5 years on Bernies bus route. My little guy in particular really had a fondness of Bernie and was in Awe of him being able to drive that big bus. In 2018 Bernie was kind enough to handwrite my son a little letter telling him he was one of his best behaved passengers on his route and signed it and my son beamed when he told people about his letter. It still hangs on my sons cork board.
To the family, we are so very sorry for your loss.

I'm deeply saddened and shocked to hear about Bernie's passing. I became a friend during our bus driving days together .He had a unique sense of humour and compassion, as we often talked of aging aches and pains. No more for you friend. I hope the road where you are going is smooth and your riders are as great as you.

This is very very sad news I know Bernie as I was his fellow bus driver and we had a whole lot of laughs at BT years ago when we both worked out of that school together, he had a love for Himalayan cats which I breed and Bernie thought about getting another one but he knew that his wife wasn't that interested but he loved cats .you will deeply miss my friend. You made me laugh many times when I was down you will be greatly missed rest in peace my friend.

I'm going to miss seeing Uncle Bernie everyday twice a day & all the great chats we had at Ed's (school bus yard). I know he loved you all so very much...he always beamed with pride when speaking of his grandchildren & their many endeavours.

Played with and against Bernie in Oldtimer sports and he was a very competitive but genuinely great person to play with or against. Very warm and friendly to all. Great fellow was great to have spent time with him!!

will miss his nice smile, we played Euchre for about 30 years and every time he would come in to play he would come over to my table and sit down and we would talk about all the great times we had playing hockey,Bernie had a real hard shot and it was always high, I would say he was trying to take my head off,by the way I was a Goalie..will miss him..RIP Buddy..Porky
