Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Biagio Ciccanti on February 20, 2021 at Juravinski Hospital, in his 91 year with his loving family at his side. Loving husband of Maria Ciccanti (Mule) for 60 years, devoted father to Sandra (Serge) Mazzocato, Robert (Gabriella) Ciccanti, and cherished Nonno to Jordan, Jessica, Tylor and Emily. Biagio was one of seven children, born on February 3, 1930 in Ascoli Piceno, son to predeceased parents Filomena and Filippo Ciccanti. Loving brother to Maria Gagliardi, Francesca Rapagná, predeceased by Giuseppe, Santina (Ciannavei), Pietro and Guido. He will be deeply missed by his extended family in Italy and Canada. He immigrated to Canada February 9, 1959 through the port of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was dedicated employee for 32 years at Federated Genco and also served as Safety and Health Chairman. His dedication to community and helping others through his parish Regina Mundi Church, he served as Head usher, Minister of the Eucharist, and a member of The Knights of Columbus. As one of the founders of Chedoke Bocce Club, he was instrumental in the design and installation of the bocce courses at the new facility. He served as Treasurer and enjoyed spending time there. In 2019 he was honored with a Lifetime Honorary Award. Biagio's garden was his greatest passion, he spent everyday taking care of his fruit trees, vegetables and ever popular tomato plants. Harvesting and sharing everything he grew. His pride was evident when he would share Italian traditions, especially Ascoli's stuffed olives. The immediate family sends heartfelt thank you to all who helped, loved and cared for Biagio over the last few years. Thank you to doctors, nurses and staff at Juravinski Hospital. Special love to Sigrid, Dr. LaGrotteria, his staff, countless friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Biagio's name to the Canadian Cancer Society. We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Biagio, a very nice man, with a fun sense of humour. His love of people is something you notice immediately, he was so proud of his garden & generous with his tomatoes giving us several plants from his crop. His love for Mary, knew no bounds, she was the apple of his eye, he loved her with his whole being ❤. To say he loved bocce would be an understatement! Biagio loved life, he squeezed out every moment, he was kind ,caring and always had a smile on his face. He loved his wife, his family and his friends, & we loved him back. BIAGIO, will be missed very much. Rest in Paradise Biagio , you were one of the best xoxo Condolences to Mary & his children. ❤❤
