EDGE, RAYMOND "RAY" Son of Mary Colborne and Edward Edge, descendent of Sir John Colborne, Lt. Governor of Upper Canada, Baron Lord Seaton, passed over peacefully, on June 10, 2021, at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his wife, Joyce Edge, and all those whose lives have been deeply touched by him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 21 years, Joyce Edge, his sister Mary O'Leary, his cousin Michael Powell, everyone in the homeopathic community, and the musical community where his contributions were many. As a husband, Ray was incredibly thoughtful, loving, kind, and loyal. Ray was an inspiring musician, homeopath, Dean, entrepreneur, and artist. Raymond began his career in the healing arts as a medical herbalist, graduating from the Dominion Herbal College in 1978. He graduated from the School of Homoeopathy on-campus program in Devon, England and was the Director of the Mirianog West Children's Clinic in Wales, providing low-cost homeopathic treatment for underprivileged children. On his return to Toronto, Ray courageously founded the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine in 1994 and the College is now the longest running Homeopathic College in North America. Ray inspired, taught, and trained hundreds of other people in the medical art of homeopathy and leaves behind the most amazing legacy of healing which will continue well past his own life span. While in practice, Raymond was a registered professional member of the North American Society of Homeopaths (NASH), the College of Homeopaths (CHO), and was also certified in classical homeopathy with the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC). Ray retired in 2019 from his positions as Dean, core lecturer, and clinical supervisor at the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine. We are all grateful to Raymond for his tremendous contributions to the field of homeopathy in Canada, and worldwide. He has done as much or more for homeopathy in North America than any individual in the past hundred years. Few people know what a wonderful visual artist Ray was. His paintings show the depth of feeling and care in his soul. Ray's gentle spirit shows through his art in a love for detail and beauty. This same care and loving attention showed in all other areas of his life as well, but perhaps most of all in his music. Ray began his career in music in his teens and was a wonderful singer, songwriter and guitar player. He played in many bands including Dollars, Dealer's Choice, and Ray Edge and the Sensations. In 2005, Ray released his solo album Soul Connection for which he received the award for Top Male Artist from the Toronto Independent Music Awards and several of the songs on his album ranked highly in both the American and British songwriting competitions. To quote a fellow musician: "There is a difference between musicians. Most of us are players, we are accompanists and our collective effort produces a pleasing result. There are lead singers, whose ego drives them to the front of the band with nothing more than their voice and a microphone. We often refer to these folks as suffering from Lead Singer Syndrome and you can guess the effect that dynamic has upon the rest of the band. Then there are musicians like Ray who are both players and singers and thereby creators of music. Ray's creativity and leadership produced more than a pleasing result for all of us. He gave us some turning points in our lives from which to navigate better courses". Forever the coolest guy in the room, Ray sang in his song "Time Enough for Love", that "the problems of the world don't seem to faze me." Truly, Ray's easy-going personality, brilliant sense of humour, and ability to bring a vision into creative being were a unique combination of qualities. Indeed anyone who knew Ray found him to be loveable, funny, and just good to be around. Ray cared deeply for others and actively sought to ease the sufferings of people, animals, and the world at large. The world is a better place for having known Ray's shining spirit; he showed us all that an individual can make a huge impact with their life. Ray was both a cool person and a shining example of love at the same time. Raymond received incredible loving care from Meighen Manor in the last couple of years of his life. For those wanting to honor him, donations to Meighen Manor in Ray's name would be appreciated. Meighen Manor is located at 155 Millwood Rd., Toronto, ON M4S 1J6, 416-481-9449. https://salvationarmy.ca/meighenhealth/ A celebration of Ray's life will be held in the coming months.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news today of Raymond's passing. Ray was a man of generous spirit, deep intelligence, indescribable warmth, and twinkling eyes. It was an honour and a joy to be taught by Ray in the very early days of the CCHM. His contributions to the art and science of homeopathic medicine, and to the lives of all who were blessed to be nurtured under his wing, shall not be forgotten.

I'm very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him, back in the 90s, when Ray's son, Robin, was my boyfriend. Ray was kind and joyful.

Sad to hear that homeopathy has lost a great propagator of homeopathy and a true gentle man. He has passed away from this transient world and has left a real contribution behind. He did make a difference. Raymond had a sincere desire from his heart and his love for homeopathy to create a first class college. I felt a certain kinship with him. We both started our respective colleges in the same year 1994 and we both studied in England. Ray was always very kind to me and I always loved teaching at his college when the opportunity arose.
I am glad to hear he passed peacefully and I send best wishes to his wife Joyce and members of his family.

It is sad to hear that homeopathy has lost a great propagator and a lovely human being. I always considered Raymond to be a real gentle man. He has now passed on from this transient world and it is wonderful to see the great contribution to homeopathy that Raymond has left behind. He did make a difference. I always felt a certain kinship with Raymond. We both started our colleges in the same year in 1994 and we both studied in England. Ray's college in Toronto and mine in Vancouver. He was always kind to me and I was always very happy to teach at his college when the possibility arose. HIs desire was to create a first class college and it came sincerely from his heart and his love of homeopathy.
I am glad to hear he passed away peacefully and I send condolences to Joyce and to the rest of Ray's family.

Thank you Raymond for being who you are and everything you have done. As a student I always felt those Rays of inspiration and energy when you supervised my work. I wouldn’t be here today without your courage and vision to start and lead one of the best homeopathic colleges in the world. Raymond and Joyce made a dynamic, passionate and powerful couple and I am so proud to part of this community. Joyce, I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and sending you virtual hugs.

I am a proud graduate of the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine (formerly TSHM). I graduated in 2008 with Joyce Edge as a fellow student! CCHM provided me the with a wonderful comprehensive education. This institution changed my life and gave me the wings to have an incredible career to date. This foundation would not have been made possible if it wasn't for Ray, who established a superior educational institution. I was fortunate to have Ray as a primary teacher; his humbleness and subtle sense of humor is a piece I will always remember. Rest easy Ray and thank you, there are so many of us who have such great careers because you, you fostered an environment for us to grow, not just as practitioners but as individuals.

Raymond was one of the most solid pillars in the homeopathic community in Ontario and has transformed the lives of hundreds and thousands of people directly and indirectly by establishing CCHM in 94. Even though I met him in person only a few times he always left a lasting impression on me for being a very gentle, sweet, profound, intelligent and caring human being. He will be in our hearts and we will carry the torch he has lighted for years and decades to come.
