Once described as "inspired by lunacy and benign raving" John Mears, also known by his stage name John E. Falcone, was a pillar of the Victoria new wave and punk scenes since the 1970s. Rising to notoriety as the frontman for The Keys he was a multi-instrumentalist and life long showman. John left this astral plane on July 31 after a freak cycling accident. His constant presence around town is missed by the artistic community and his family. John is survived by his children, Elizabeth and Emira, and his granddaughter Lena, as well as his brother David and his children Daniela and Denisse, and their children in Costa Rica, all of whom he loved deeply. John made an impression wherever he went and will be missed in the many communities he travelled in. He was well known for his love of live performance and in that spirit an event to celebrate John will be held in 2022. Until then, John would want us all to keep it weird and keep it loud.
