Eugene K. "Red" Tardivo, 89, of Vandergrift, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021. Born April 20, 1931, in Leechburg, he was a son of the late Mike Tardivo and Julia (Vulgan) Tardivo. Red was a graduate of Vandergrift High School, and proudly served our country with the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a pattern maker for Wean United for 30 years and in maintenance at Kiski Area High School for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Red was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, life member of the Vandergrift VFW Post 566 and the Pattern Makers League of North America. He also helped coach St. Gertrude basketball, coached for the Vandergrift Little League and Connie Mack Baseball. Red enjoyed going to his camp in Godfrey along the Allegheny River. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Tardivo; and an infant grandson, Ian Thomas Romick. Red is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rose Marie (Loffreto) Tardivo; children, Debra Tardivo, of Clewiston, Fla., Eileen (Thomas) Romick, of Pittsburgh, Denise (Michael) Yarussi, of Allegheny Township, Michael (Teresa) Tardivo, of North Apollo, Kathleen (Raymond) Myers, of North Apollo, Thomas (Molly) Tardivo, of Edgewater, Md., Kenneth (Marsha) Tardivo, of Wellington, Fla., Kevin Tardivo, of North Palm Beach, Fla., and Keith (Kristina) Tardivo, of Lower Burrell; grandchildren, Chelsea (Marc) Akkus, Stephen (Elena) Romick, Adam (Casey) Yarussi, Zachary Tardivo, Shelley Ann (Scott) Gathers, Emily (Glenn) Porter, Michael Valentine Tardivo, Christian, Nicholas and Anabella Tardivo and Gabrielle Tardivo; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Akkus; sister, Arlene Crossan, of Vandergrift; and several nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, all services are private and have been entrusted to the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., Vandergrift. A private service will be held with Father James Loew, OSB, as celebrant, at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Red's memory to the VA Butler Healthcare, 353 N. Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001, or to Assisted Living at Rosebrook, 723 S.
