Charles William Talbot Funeral Services for Charles William "Chuck" Talbot of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Fr. Tom Wissler, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, MO, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Brandon Talbot, Sammy Pickard, Zachary Talbot, Joe Ogden, Zeke Talbot, Kevin Dotson, Trevor Talbot, Scott Kroeger and Adam Talbot, and his great-grandsons: Cale Mackey, Eli Talbot, Mason Whyte and Cameron Pickard. Mr. Talbot, 83, passed away late Saturday morning, June 23, 2012 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born August 25, 1928 in Taylorville, IL, he was the son of Clarence Albert "Jack" and Christene Mary Douse Talbot. He was united in marriage in April 1951 in Elsberry to JoAnne Whiteside. This union was blessed with seven children: Charles Michael, Kathryn Ann, Joseph Clarence, Christine Marie, Jennifer Lee, Mark William and John Darren. He served his country for 3 years in active duty during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. He then served 10 years in the Army Reserves. In 1953 he began working for Forrest Keeling Nursery. He then began working for Hillside Gardens in 1971 and later owned the business until 2005. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #226, American Association of Nurserymen and was President of St. Louis Landscapers for two years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Christene Talbot; his former wife, JoAnne Talbot on July 19, 2006; and one grandson, Lucas Andrew Talbot in 1985. Survivors include four sons: Mike Talbot and his wife, Peggy, Joe Talbot and his wife, Carla, Mark Talbot and his wife, Cindy, and John Talbot and his wife, Angela, all of Elsberry; three daughters: Kathy Ogden and her husband, Harry Gene, Christy Dotson and her friend, Carroll Raspberry and Jenny Kroeger and her husband, Mark, all of Elsberry; twenty grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He also leaves other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to Family of Chuck Talbot or the Charity of the Donor's Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
