JOSEPH W. LAFORTE BORN AUGUST 25, 1920 passed away peacefully in Juno Beach, Florida on July 21, 2017, one month shy of his 97th birthday. Predeceased by his wife Hazel (Taffy) in 2003 and his daughter Sally L. Occhialino in 2015. Survived by his son William N. LaForte (Ann N. LaForte) of Rochester, New York and his cousin's wife, Bonnie Hastings, also of Juno Beach. Survived by his 5 grandchildren (Lisabeth, Anne Noel, Ted, Jennifer and Cynthia) 8 great grandchildren and his son in law, Mario E. Occhialino. Born in Detroit Michigan, Joe was an executive with IBM Corporation for 34 years and moved to Juno Beach in 1976 where he became a real estate agent and an owner in Celestial Realty. He was the long time President of the Colony Condominium in Juno Beach and he dedicated many hours to the Condominium as he lived year round in Juno Beach. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed his home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, while frequently playing his favorite big band songs on his grand piano. He was a long time member of Tequesta Country Club. He loved to ballroom dance, play golf, and of course, he welcomed the 5:00 cocktail hour so he could enjoy his gin martini's, followed by anything chocolate. A special thanks to Bonnie's daughter, Kit Hastings, and the Visiting Angels who provided comfort and care in his final years. He loved his family reunions, and was a very generous patriarch to all. He will be sorely missed but his spirit and love for his family and friends will endure forever. There will be no calling hours. Mr. LaForte will be laid to rest in Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, New York at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Joe's life will be planned for the fall in Juno Beach for his family and his many friends. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy and in his memory are asked to donate to the American Heart Association, 25 Circle Street, Rochester, NY 14607.
