Elaine Rogers Obituary

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. – Elaine W. Rogers, age 86, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at her home after a long illness.
Elaine was born July 23, 1920, in Anderson County, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David A. and Myrtle Kidwell Wood, and an infant baby brother.
Survivors include husband of 60 years, Elmer O. Rogers of the home; son, Tom A. Rogers of Bean Station; brother, Glen L. Wood and wife Audrey of Hampstead, N.C.; sister, Joan Van Tilburg of Raleigh, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elaine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where early on she was very active with the women of the church. She was also very active for many years in volunteer work, such as Central Services and Meals on Wheels. She was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in the chapel of Mayes Mortuary. Officiating will be Dr. Gary Kelly. Interment will be in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
