Peggy: You were an inspriation to me at the VSTA meetings, to say nothing of your leadeship of student teachers. Bless you for your dedication not only to students, Elaine Barnes

I was in several of Peggy's homeroom classes at Burnaby South High School from 1948 to graduation in 1953. I remember Peggy well as a very friendly girl.

I well remember Miss Morrison as firm but fair; she had a genuine interest in us as students, but also as members of the school community. I have a few treasured memories of her, but the one that sticks out is her offering me a chance to sit in her office before classes (my parent were in the Middle East and I was staying with some guardians - regrettably a poor fit and consequently I would show up at school really early to get away from them) for much of the first semester and share a cup of tea and talk. I largely credit her with helping me get through this difficult time, and actually making me want to apply myself to my studies, so much so that I managed to bring my grades up and make it into UBC. Many years later, I looked her up after graduate school and had a chance to thank her for all her kindness and wisdom and she couldn't have been more gracious. I was glad our paths crossed, and I think often and fondly of my 07:30 standing tea appointment in her office. I think many of us would agree certain educators impacted us so profoundly that it colours us as adults, Peggy was certainly one who we respected and looked up to and I will hope my children are blessed with an educator as talented and compassionate as her. The last time I saw Peggy was at a Crime Prevention Conference and as she was as a school administrator here she was again in retirement in the Vancouver West End, working for the betterment of others in her community! I had the honour of working with Peggy when she became one of the first school administrators in Vancouver and while I would like to think her welcoming was open and hospitable, there were no doubts challenges and barriers that Peggy faced. It says much of your skills, diligence and determination that she succeeded and pervailed. She will be missed.

In another era, Peggy would have been a suffragette, and a feisty one at that.

I was saddened to hear of Peggy's passing. In my opinion, one of the finest school administrators during my time in Vancouver. A kind heart, a good person, and tough (a compliment)! I was fortunate to learn a lot from Peggy during her time at Eric Hamber. We had many chats about her Mom, who also taught in the school system. Peggy was a very special individual!
