Ros, Steve, Geoff, Susan –
You all have our best wishes in this worst of times.
From David’s memorial, we learned less is more.
Therefore, we offer you these few words, and had we been there
on the 11th, would have gladly expressed them for all to hear.
Today, we celebrate the Honorable Stuart Rockwell
Who was all-too-sudden taken from us.
He will be remembered in many, many ways:
First, as a son
Then as a brother,
And then as the eldest of three.
Second, as a Saint Marks scholar,
Then as a graduate of Harvard,
And then as an army officer.
Third, as a husband/father and uncle,
Then as an ambassador to Morocco
And then as a protocol officer.
Finally, to quote Mark Antony’s eulogy of Brutus:
“His life was gentle and all the elements
So mixed in him that Nature may stand up
And say to all the world:
‘This was a man.’”
Enough said.
All the best,
Mary C. and Charles K. Rockwell

Dear Aunt Ros,
Stevie, Geoff, and Susie....
I don't know what I can ever say to all of you other than we you are pretty remarable family, and that I love having all of you as mine! Thank you Aunt Ros for the support that you have always given me, particularly when I was growing up, and thank you for being such a fine sister to my father -- your brother, Digges.... Dad really appreciated and loved you more, particularly as he got older. I believe that your small and larger influences on me have only made me a better father, and hopeful mentor to my own son Adam Morgan. I am fortunate that Adam had the chance to meet his great aunt and uncle four years ago, while on a school trip to DC. He remembers that time well with appreciation & purpose. Once again, thanks to all of you and Uncle Stuart, for being part of our unique family. I cherish all of you! It may not be possible to be with all of you at the April Memorial Service, but perhaps in the summer time. I am hopeful that this may be a possibility. Much love to all of you!!
