Dear Toby, Jane and Anna,
We have very fond memories of your Dad. We first met him in March 1980 when he and your mother Gwen invited us to stay in your home for a couple of nights before we flew back home to Canada. As francophones, we helped your parents practise their French! We had been introduced to your parents thanks to the benevolent Hedley Taylor and Jeannette Scott. In 1998, your Dad took us, along with Jeanette, on a wonderful cruise in his sailboat around Sydney harbour. In 2002 we met up with Ian and his second wife Glenys in Provence, France and a number of years later we received them in our home in Canada and visited Montreal & Quebec cities with them. In 2012 we completed an extended tour of the north and south islands of New Zealand with Ian and Glenys enjoying a marvellous time together. We loved your Dad´s openness, warmth, kindness, and his brilliant sense of humour. Over the more than 40 years that we knew him, Ian faithfully kept in touch with us. We are going to miss him dearly. Please accept our most sincere condolences.
