KIM CLAYTON Obituary

CLAYTON, KIM
Kim Clayton passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary on June 27, 2018 at the
age of 57. Kim is survived by her husband, Tony Muszynski; daughter, Hannah (Naomi Hiebert) Muszynski; son, Alex (Freya
O'Sullivan) Muszynski; mother Patricia Clayton; sisters, Rosalie (Charles) Pedersen and Lorna (Chris Belyk) Clayton; brother,
Roger (Margaret Hanna) Clayton; mother-in-law, Janina Muszynski; sisters-in-law, Wanda and Marie Muszynski; and their spouses, partners, children, and grandchildren. Kim was predeceased by her father, Bruce Clayton; her father-in-law, Stanley Muszynski; her stepfather, Harold Rowbottom; and her very special Uncle Joe Clayton.
Born to Pat and Bruce Clayton and raised on the family farm near Airdrie, Kim loved adventure, nature, family and friends. She travelled extensively, constantly embracing new places and people. Thoughtful and decisive, she was a highly-valued leader and mentor. Educated as a lawyer, she was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1996. She worked with her husband Tony in their small law firm for many years, and later spent 8 years with the Alberta Energy Regulator where she was promoted several times, ultimately to senior management.
Kim will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was instrumental in organizing many family events for her large extended families, often at the "Clayton coulee". Her smile and her laugh announced her vibrant presence and began many lasting friendships. She was a reader, world traveler, hiker, hockey mom, and one incredibly sharp cookie. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Kim's life will be held at the Town and Country Centre, 275 Jensen Dr NE, Airdrie on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 1:30 pm. The family would like to particularly thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (Unit 46 and 47) as well as everyone at the Rosedale Hospice where Kim peacefully spent her last days. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via www.myalternatives.ca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, 1620 29 St NW Unit 300, Calgary, AB, T2N 4L7, or at www.albertacancer.ca

Im deeply saddened by Kims untimely demise. She was at SAIT for a couple of semesters, where I had the privilege of spending time with her during lunches and walks around the campus with her and my other best friend Karen McLean. Kim and I were both avid travellers and discussed our travels quite a bit. She suggested that I go to Brugge. Coincidentally, and sadly, when Kim was breathing her last, I was in Brugge unbeknownst to her. She left a deep impression on me and everybody whose paths crossed with hers. I had never imagined that I could be this close to one of Rosalies sibling because Rosalie and I were very different people.

My sincere condolences to Kim's family. I was fortunate to have met and worked with Kim at the Alberta Energy Regulator. She was an incredible leader and person. She organized weekly walks around Princes Island out in nature for a group of us at the AER where we shared many stories. She would drop by our offices and say "let's go for a walk". She was an amazing talent person.
