Helen Rose Carleton Carleton: Helen Rose age 93 of Regina, SK and formerly of Swift Current, SK passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home in Swift Current with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The interment service took place in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Helen is survived by her son Scott Carleton; daughter-in-law Gail Rouse-Carleton; granddaughter Brittan Carleton; brothers Herman Silzer, Edward (Phyllis) Silzer, Richard (Sue) Silzer and Otto (Jean) Silzer; sister-in-law Lorraine Silzer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Norman on January 15, 2009. Helen Rose Silzer was born on June 22, 1928 on the family homestead located in Lakenheath District. Her parents were Charles (Charlie) and Elsie Silzer (nee Hoffman). Helen was a middle child in a family to become four girls and ten boys. Helen attended a one-room school house within walking distance of home. Beginning at 16 years of age she worked a series of jobs throughout the 1940's and 1950's. Helen was a hair dresser in Swift Current by 1957 when she met Norman Carleton. After a brief courtship they were married on October 10, 1958 in the Messiah Lutheran Church in Assiniboia, SK. Norman and Helen settled on the family farm five miles southwest of Neville. A baby boy was born in 1959 but did not survive childbirth. On July 2, 1961 a son Scott was born. The family moved into Neville for the winter of 1966 followed by a move to Swift Current in 1967 for Scott's schooling years. A wife, mother and continuing to farm at Neville Helen worked for 18 years with the Swift Current Union Hospital. Helen's greatest pleasure was to have family around. She was especially proud to become a grandmother on September 2, 1997 with Brittan. In her retirement years Helen kept busy with gardening, crochet, completing puzzles with Norman and travelling with him to visit family. After Norman's passing Helen continued to keep the house and yard until she moved into a Regina condominium during 2014 to be closer to Scott, Gail and Brittan.
