Clara Schoonekamp Obituary
On November 12, 2019, our loving Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma passed away peacefully at the age of 98. Clara will be greatly missed. We celebrate her long life and rejoice in the knowledge that by the grace of God, she now rests in the arms of Jesus her Savior. Clara was born in Edmonton, AB on April 13, 1921. She was the second youngest in a family of 12 children born to George and Grace (Bandstra) Visser. Being one of the youngest children gave her the opportunity to get an education and become a teacher. In 1947, Clara married Albert Schoonekamp. They lived in Neerlandia until moving to Edmonton in 1967. Clara taught school for 39 years while Albert farmed and worked as a mechanic. They were married for 67 years and blessed with two daughters. Clara is lovingly remembered by her daughters; Grace Carol (Norm) Bomer and their children; Rebecca (Elvis) LaFunor, (Caleb and Issac) and Ben (Katie) Bomer (August and Milo); Patricia Dawn (Dennis) Nanninga and their children; Quentin (Charlene) Nanninga (Halle, Grace, Isaiah and Lily); Laura (Dallas) Miles (Giselle and Gavin), Daniel (Jenny) Nanninga (Willem, Benjamin and Cora) and Lindy (Keith) Wiart (Clair, Anna, Sophia and Morgan). Clara was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Albert; three sisters; Lieukje Visser, Tena Tuininga and Lucy Messelink; eight brothers; Frank, Jan, John, Raymond, Sidney, Peter, Klaas and George and great-granddaughter, Piper Bomer. A Funeral Service will be held at the Neerlandia Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Shepherd's Care and Dr. F. Wepener and the Nursing Staff at the Barrhead Healthcare Centre for the special care given to our mother.
