Brian SMITH Obituary

SMITH, Brian (1954 - 2018) After a battle with cancer, Brian died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on October 28th, just three weeks shy of turning 64 years old. Born in Windsor, he was married to his high school sweetheart Joanne (Corriveau) Smith for 42 wonderful years. He was a loving father to Michelle and Donnie Sturley, and Jeffrey and Jennifer Smith. Brian was a proud and doting grandpa to his three handsome grandsons: Tyler and Dylan Sturley and Bentley Smith. He will be forever loved by his siblings and their spouses: Brenda and Dennis Balzer, Brad Smith and Gen Earon, Barb Smith and Geoff Mundell and Bev Evans, as well as his in-laws: Joe Corriveau and his partner Grace Dungey, Regina Corriveau, the late Donald Corriveau and his wife Rosemary Corriveau Landriault, Gerry Landriault, and the late Johnny Corriveau and his wife Lu Corriveau. Uncle Brian was also adored by his many nieces and nephews for his wicked sense of humour. Brian was a sprinkler and fire protection installer before he retired in May 2011 to spend more time with his family and friends, collect coins and travel. An active volunteer in his community, Brian was the recipient of the Jack Campbell Award for his dedication to Brampton Minor Baseball Inc. (BMBI) and received a Citizen Award from the City of Brampton for his long term service as a baseball coach. For more than a decade, he was also a leader to Scouts Canada for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. The family will be holding an intimate Celebration of Life in November for close family and friends.
