John HUNTER Obituary

November 13, 1938 - September 23, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce that on Thursday, September 23, 2021, John Thompson Hunter passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer at Ian Anderson House at the age of 82 with family by his side. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marilyn, and his children Kelly (Larry), Kim (Mark) and Keith (Glynis). He will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren Jason (Helena), Scott (Courtney), Maggie (Jamie), Victoria (Greg), Sydney (James), Johnny, Catherine Michael, Jake and his great-grandchildren, Lillian, Lucy, Thomas, Faith, Russell, Dylan and Joshua. John was a caring, kind person with a decent soul who would help anyone in need and was loved by all. He was affectionately known by his family and friends as "GRPATAXI"; always ready to provide a ride when needed. Everyone who met John quickly came to know he was a prankster who loved to tease people which he did right up to his last days. John's passion for archery had him spending his spare time at the Dufferin Northern Peel Anglers and Hunters Association Club. He served as a member of the executive and spent countless hours working at the club and teaching kids about archery and making arrows in his shed while smoking his cigars. In addition, John loved a good game of euchre and had many fun memorable games at Tim Hortons. The family would like to thank all of the staff who cared for John at Milton District Hospital, Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and Ian Anderson House the hospice where he spent his last days. Not a day went by when John didn't speak about the great care he received during his journey. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in accordance with COVID protocols. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a memorial donation to Ian Anderson House or Milton District Hospital Foundation. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.earlyfuneralhome.com
