MCDOWALL, Socrates (Sox) 1954 - 2017 It is with great sadness to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Socrates on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Brampton Civic Hospital, Brampton surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving mother Iolyn McDowall and siblings Judy, Mauline, Mackson, Leo, Anthony, Eddie, and Sharleen. He was predeceased by his father Chiefton Walter McDowall, his brothers Walterson and Fazal McDowall and sister Sharmin McDowall. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, Samantha, Diana, Krystle, Richard, Alex, Ashley, James, Taylor, Christopher and many of his great nieces and nephews and dear friends. Socrates was a very generous soul who loved to give to others. He was very kind and considerate and loved to make others happy. He deeply loved his mother and was always at her side. Everybody definitely knew him as a ""mama's boy."" Socrates enjoyed the simple things in life, his family, friend and work. He had a very strong work ethic and rarely missed a days work. During his spare time he enjoyed spending time with friends and having a few drinks. Sox was a fantastic pool player, loved sports especially hockey and enjoying watching his DVD movies. Socrates will be deeply missed by those who were touched by him. We invite all family and friends to join us for a Celebration of his Life Memorial on Saturday, July 22, 2017. The service will be held Meadowvale Funeral Centre, located at 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, ON L6Y 5L5. A private viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and a public viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The funeral service and burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Reception from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the South Fletcher's Sportsplex recreation centre at 500 Ray Lawson Blvd., Brampton, ON L6Y 3B3.
