Damian CASSIDY Obituary

CASSIDY, Damian Joseph 1959 - 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Damian Cassidy who passed away Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 after a brave battle with cancer. Born to Sheelagh and Vincent Cassidy in Dublin, Ireland, Damian was part of a warm and loving family, leaving behind siblings Nicola, David, Gaye (Phil), Jonathan (Loretta), Simon (Mia) and Sara (Damian). He will be lovingly remembered by a myriad of family and friends, but mostly by his three favourite girls; wife, Pippa and daughters, Siobhan and Freya. Damian was a mentor, a friend and, above all else, a devoted family man. He possessed an irrepressible spirit, roguish wit and magnetic charm, as evidenced by his role as the life of every party and epicenter of any and all dinner table banter. He was entrepreneurial, athletic, competitive and a natural leader. Courageous and intelligent, Damian approached life with unparalleled verve. Please join us in celebrating the life and times of our beloved Damian at a reception on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 7 pm at The Clubhouse - Gleneagles Golf Course, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dearest Pippa, Siobhan and Freya,
We have been thinking of you for quite some time, then just today, we learned of the passing of your beloved Damian. Such a loss of so truly a fine individual, is incomprehensible. Although our relationship began as Natural Textile clients, we immediately felt like friends, and every visit to the store was filled with laughter, as Pippa and I spent hours sharing stories and teasing the ever charming and patient Damian. We came to know so much about the family as we shared stories and experiences about our children and through the years we listened as your wonderful family grew.
We will always think of Damian as that rather quiet, gentle, sophisticated and handsome man, with a delightfully sharp wit; we will always remember him as that wonderful husband and father whose life was complete with the love of his three lovely ladies.
It was very special to have known Damian and our friendship with him and you, Pippa, has enriched our lives.
Always,
Deb and Ron Mackinnon

Dear Pippa, Siobhan and Freya, we were so very sad to hear that Damian did not win his battle with cancer. He was such a fun, warm, positive and overall good human being -- one of those people that make this world a better place. Matt enjoyed his chance meetings with Damien last summer and remembers fondly his enthusiasm for life, and his incredible positivity given his recent diagnosis. We were cheering for him all the way! We know he lives on in all of you and that his spirit can never truly be extinguished. With much love and tenderness, Paula, Simone, Matt and Max xoxoxo

I met Damien in Celbridge in 1980 and later spend time with him while living near London in 1983 where I also met Pipa. He has always been someone that I have looked up to and someone that you just want to spend time with. His sincerity, charm, sense of humor and gift of gab will always be remembered. Tim McCarthy

I was so sorry to hear about Damian. I only met him once, long ago, in London, but he was a legend and I'm sure he will be dearly missed by many but especially by you. My heart goes out to you, and i hope you find comfort in each other.

Dear Pippa and girls,
We were so sad to hear of Damian's passing. We enjoyed Damian's company at field hockey and soccer games. We had many a jovial chat by the sidelines. I especially enjoyed working with Damian as the manager of the field hockey team while he was our dedicated coach. He brought such warmth to it all and was so nice to all the girls. His emails to the team were both funny and thoughtful. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Dearest Pippa and family. Upon reading the obituary for Damian in the North Shore News this evening, I wanted to express my deepest sorrow at the loss of this special man. Although I met Damian only once, his warmth, intelligence and fabulous sense of humour were qualities that I remember and enjoyed. My heart and thoughts are with you. I would attend the service but will be away at that time.
