Giuseppina, Better Known As Josie, Was A Loving Wife To John And Mother, Grandmother And Great-Grandmother To 21 Lucky People.
Born October 1932 In The Small Village Of Cervinara, Italy To Maria Antonia And Vincenzo Simeone. Giuseppina And Her Brother Domenico And Sister Julia Survived The Invasion Of Troops During World War 2 And The Resulting Eradication Of Food And Work.
This Led To A Post War Life-Changing Decision For Josie, Where At The Age Of 17 She Moved To England. Josie May Have Left The Parents She Loved, But She Never Forgot Her Italian Roots And The Sense Of Obligation To Family And Country.
In England, Josie, With Her Italian Cousins And Girlfriends, Met A Group Of Handsome Ukrainian Men, One Of Whom Was Named Ivan "John" Ropotyn. After Two Years Of Courtship, John & Josie Married In February Of 1954.
Within The Next Six Years, This Highly Productive Union Created Five Beautiful Children - Three Daughters & Two Sons. Irene, Maria, Julia (Scott), Myron, And Peter (Nancy).
A Decade Later, Ivan & Josie Made A Second Life-Changing Decision, And With The Encouragement Of Her Sister Julia And Brother-In-Law, Pasquale Moved From Bradford England To The Small Town Of Galt, Canada
For Some Bizarre Reason, They Thought That Taking A Transatlantic Voyage On An Ocean Liner In April Would Make For A Lovely Holiday. Unfortunately, None Of The Ropotyns Had Good Sealegs.
Ivan And Josie Worked Hard To Provided A Beautiful Life For Their Family. They Were Incredibly Proud Of All Their Children's Successes Along With Their Own Property Investment Success.
Josie Had Many Passions - Her Family, Her Church, Her Work, Her Home, Her Love Of Food & Cooking, & Family & Friends. But Josie Was Never Happier Than Getting Her Hands Dirty In Soil To Make Bountiful Vegetable & Beautiful Floral Gardens.
Over The Years, She Thoroughly Enjoyed Participating In Her Children's Activities - From Picking Up A Stick And Joining In On A Game Of Hockey On The Backyard Rink - To Spending Sunday Afternoons Picnicking At The Beach - To Playing With Her Girls On The Hospital Baseball & Bowling Teams. Nothing Gave Her More Pleasure Than Spending Saturday Afternoons Shopping & Lunching With Her Daughters & Then Getting Dolled Up For Dinner & Dancing With John.
But Her Greatest Joy Came With Birth Of Her Grandchildren, Beginning With Julia. Then Five Years Later, Christopher & Jacqueline, Followed Closely By Alexander, Lindsey, Jessica, Joshua, Stephanie, And Sydney. It Didn't Take Long Before Her First Great-Grandchild Zackary Arrived And Ten Years Later, Along Came Phoenix, Jace, Scarlet, Jasmine, Eliza And Just Last Year, Levi. For Josie, This Was Her World.
As With Great Joy, Comes Great Sadness. Eight Years Ago, Josie Lost John, Her Husband Of Sixty Years. Although At First, It Appeared That Josie Was Going To Follow John On His Journey To Heaven... She Survived To Share Her Love & Laughter With All Her Grandchildren Who Take Delight In Teasing Her And Immitating Her Adorable Italian Accent. Josie Was A Force To Be Reckoned With And Has Left An Indelible Mark On Her Entire Family And Will Be Forever Rememered For Her Playfullness, Her Kindness & Her Generosity.
