It is with great sorrow in our hearts we announce that Hugh Bertram passed away peacefully in his sleep December 24, 2022, in his 91st year. Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Evelyn Ingles Bertram (nee Arnoldi). Hugh and Evelyn met in Toronto at Christ Church Deer Park and eventually married in 1966. Hugh was a dedicated teacher at Maplehurst Correctional Centre (Milton) for 25 years as well as teaching occasionally at Conestoga College. Hugh was a recipient of the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada in May 2000. Hugh will be dearly missed by his son John (Kimberly) Bertram of Ottawa, Ontario, and their children Joshua and Michaela. His daughter Pamela (Doug) Rees-Evans of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and their children Daniella and Margaret. His daughter Heather (Paul) Allan of Cambridge, Ontario, and their children Olivia, Ashley, and Carter. His daughter Nancy (Rick) Pereira of Baden, Ontario, and their children Tyler, Jessica, and Nathan. His daughter Marion (Doug) De Land of Tottenham, Ontario, and their children Kevin and Phillip. Hugh is survived by his siblings Mary Orr and Catherine Campbell. Hugh was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Vern Orr and Richard Campbell. Hugh was passionate about fishing and hunting, photography, and golf. He loved the family pets, who will surely miss him.
