Lillian Haney Obituary

September 14, 1921 - July 15, 2022

Marking the end of life of a strong, remarkable woman. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Lillian Isabel Haney (nee Burnet) on July 15, 2022. Born in Branchton on September 14, 1921, to the late Alex and Lottie Burnet, she was one of six children raised on the family farm. After moving to the city, she met and married Larry Haney the man she would spend the next 75 years with. He predeceased her just two weeks previous on July 1, 2022. They were blessed with four children Judy (Walter Ferguson), David Haney (Claire Jubinville), Janice (Franck Merli), and Catherine (John Urquhart), seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mom could always turn simple family gatherings into fun and caring events creating special memories. She was a "Mother" too many, and in our home, there was always room for one more. Our Mother contributed to her community in so many ways over the years. She gave her time and compassion freely to anyone in need, from the neighbourhood to the city at large. Volunteering for the hospital auxiliary, she gave countless hours of her time and shared her baking skills, specifically her butter tarts. She gave to the Church, to the Children's Treatment Centre and would often drive anyone in need to appointments. She was an amazing role-model, inspiring us to care and contribute to our community. As a family, we would like to thank the staff on the Galt unit at Fairview Mennonite Home for all the hugs, songs, and wonderful care they gave to Mom. They are all very special and helped to make Mom's life the best it could be. A private service will be held with interment at Mount View Cemetery. Should you wish to donate to a Charity of Your Choice, it would be greatly appreciated.

I had tears in my eyes when a couple of years ago I read the article in the paper about your Mom and Dad. Your Dad could not go down to see your Mom because of the COVID lockdown. For the past 73 years they had been together and all they wanted was to be with one another. That was a true love story.
Your mother was a wonderful woman so remember all the good times and all the happy memories you have of her. I know that I have a lot of memories of your Mom and how your house always smelled so good from your Mom's baking.
Rest in peace Mrs Haney
To Judy, Janice, Kathy, David and your families our deepest condolences
