WEEKS , Karen Elizabeth
May 3, 1942- October 30, 2022 Karen Passed away at the age of 80, in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. She is predeceased by her husband Grant Weeks, and her parents: James and Edythe Renwick. She is survived by: Her Sons and their families: Benton, Lina, Emmett, Olivia and Garner, Carolyn, Thea, Seth and her brother and Sister-in-law Blaine & Ila Renwick. And many other family and friends that will cherish her memory. Karen was born in Regina on May 3 1942 to James and Edythe Renwick of Milestone, Sk. She grew up on the family farm west of Milestone. She attended her elementary years in a one room school in Corrine, Sk. Her high school years in Milestone, graduating in 1960. She graduated from the U OF S in 1965 with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. She started working with public health as a nurse in Nipawin as her first job. She worked in various locations during her career Regina, Norquay, Canora, Stratford, Preeceville, and Saskatoon. She also taught nursing at the Grey Nuns. Karen met Grant Weeks in Regina in 1969 and they were married July 4th, 1970 in Milestone, Sk on the Renwick family farm. The newlywed couple lived in Regina for their first year with Karen working for Public Health and Grant working for Farm Credit. In 1972 they moved to the Weeks family farm south of Sturgis, Sk and made it their home. In 1974, they welcomed their first son Benton and in 1976 they welcomed their second son Garner. Karen left nursing to focus on her family and the business of farming. In the 1980's she decided to return to nursing which required her relicensing. She took on this challenge and returned to her nursing career. Karen's new employer was the Gateway Lodge in Canora. Eventually she worked for home care in Preeceville helping seniors of the area receive the care they required. Sadly, the love of her life and her best friend Grant passed away suddenly in 1994 at the age of 52. Karen remained on the farm until 2000 when she moved to Saskatoon to live with her son Benton. She got a job with Home Care in Saskatoon and purchased a condo. Once her first grandchild Thea was born Karen felt it was time to retire and spend more time with her family. She retired in 2005. In retirement Karen was active and had many pass times. Once her grand children were born, she was very engaged in their lives. Karen loved attending her grandchildrens activities. She was very proud of them and cherished the time she spent with them. Karen was a member of the Orpheus 60 Chorus a choir, and enjoyed singing. As a creative person she always had a project on the go, sewing many clothes and craft projects from bridesmaid dresses for Garner & Carolyn's wedding to wall art for every season. Socializing was another pastime Karen enjoyed, from entertaining at her condo to shopping excursions with friends she had a rich social life. As her health declined, she lived with her son Benton and his family for several months before moving to Stonebridge retirement community in September. A Celebration of Life was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday November 5, 2022 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street, Saskatoon).
