MONETTE, Melissa - It is with profound sadness the family of the late Melissa Monette announce her unexpected passing in Canora, SK, on November 30, 2023, at the young age of 39. Melissa was born in Regina, SK, on June 26, 1984, to Rod and Geri (Rakochy) Petrychyn. The youngest of three siblings, she grew up and spent most of her life in Canora. Melissa attended and graduated from Canora Composite school. Following graduation, Melissa relocated and worked in various locations. Eventually in the summer of 2006, she settled in Yorkton when she met the love of her life, Ryan Monette. They happily married September 12, 2009, and in August of 2010 they welcomed their daughter, Aubrie, into the world. Ryan, Melissa, and Aubrie chose Canora as their forever home where Melissa began her CIBC career. She loved her family and friends fiercely and whole heartedly; to say she had the biggest heart is an understatement. Her fearless authenticity, personality, and sense of humour was one of a kind. Her dedication was most evident in her greatest achievement, her beautiful daughter, Aubrie, and loving husband, Ryan. Every stride Aubrie makes and every smile that graces Ryan's face is a tribute to the remarkable woman Melissa was. Melissa had a genuine love for spending time with her cherished family and friends. She cared for everyone in her unique way with her actions always speaking louder than her words. Her love for connection and gathering us all close by while playing cards, quadding, sledding, or just simply relaxing at their family cabin were some of her favorite things to do and would remind us of what truly mattered. Melissa's passion, bordering on obsession, was Elvis everything! Her ultimate dream came true when Ryan and her traveled to Graceland in January 2023. If her life was a song, it was a passionate ballad of Elvis filled with an unmatched dedication to those she held dear. Let us remember her as someone who poured out love to her world and received it back tenfold. Melissa was loved and predeceased by her grandparents, John Petrychyn and Peter and Agnes Rakochy. She will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by her husband, Ryan Monette; daughter, Aubrie Monette; parents, Rod and Geri Petrychyn; brother, Chad (Joni) Petrychyn; and sister, Amanda (Matthew) Thompson; father and mother-in-law, Bruce and Colleen Monette; sisters-in-law, Lisa Monette (Luc Laplante) and Kayla (Dallas) Elliott; and brother-in-law, Curtis (Stephanie) Monette; her nephews, Sawyer and Lucas Thompson and Liam and Mason Lapante; and her nieces, Jessica Petrychyn, Maelia Laplante, Lola Monette, and Claire and Addison Elliott; as well as her extended family and many friends. In Melissa's honour, a Memorial Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Canora, SK, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Kuruvilla as celebrant. A private committal service followed at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic (Antoniwka) Cemetery north of Canora, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Mental Health Association, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Melissa Monette.
