SHEWCHUK Marge Obituary

SHEWCHUK, Marge - With heavy hearts, the family of the late Marge Shewchuk announce her passing at the Canora Hospital on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 87 years. Marge was born on October 5, 1936, in the Buchanan District, SK, to Frederick and Nettie (nee Terlesky) Dutchak. She attended Canora Schools. On October 11, 1957, Marge was united in marriage to Walter Shewchuk. They lived near the elementary school in Canora, SK, until about 1973, when they built a home on the farm north of town, next to Walter's parents. Together, they were blessed with three children, Daryl, Deryck, and Lydia. Marge enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening, sewing, crafts, fishing, camping trips, and many social events. She was well known for her perogies, scuffles, and Cornflake Christmas wreaths. Additionally, her activities within the community included membership in Beta Sigma Phi, Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Choir, and the Keen Age Center. She was also involved with pattern dancing, the Canora Library, and selling Avon as a service to her community members. Marge travelled extensively across Canada and through central USA, while Walter did custom combining. She also had the opportunity to visit Mexico and England, as well as numerous trips to see family across the US and Canada. In 2004, Marge moved back into her childhood home and lived there until she became a resident of the Canora Gateway Lodge, where she resided until her passing. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marge was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Nettie; husband, Walter; and her brother, Alfred Dutchak.
