JOHNSTONE, MICHAEL ERIC
Wabshki-Anemki-Mukwa (White Thunder Bear)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Eric Johnstone, lovingly known by his spiritual Ojibway name Wabshki-Anemki-Mukwa (White Thunder Bear), on December 6, 2025, at the age of 25.
Michael was from Fort William First Nation. He was the beloved son of Esther Pervais and Michael Johnstone Sr. (Bobby-Jo). He will be dearly missed by his sisters Faith (Alexander), Brooklyn, and Maiya, as well as his best friend Sarah Erven.
Michael was known for his big heart, quick wit, and infectious sense of humour. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, travelling, and sports. He had a strong work ethic from a young age and later became a Heavy Equipment Operator. Michael also had a love for music, cars, and fashion, always taking pride in his appearance.
He is lovingly remembered by his grandmothers Rochelle Johnson and Ruth Pervais, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A sacred fire was lit to guide Michael on his journey home to the Creator.
