Aldo Blasio Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Aldo Di Blasio announces his sudden but peaceful passing with his family by his side on January 4, 2011 at TBRHSC.Aldo was born in Port Arthur on March 11, 1940 the youngest of 3 children. He attended St. Joseph's school and later Port Arthur Technical High School. He was very involved in sports especially football and track and field, where he held the city 100 yard dash record for many years. He received many trophies and awards for his athletic abilities.Aldo was the first president of student's council of Hillcrest High School in 1959. He continued to play football as quarterback for both the FW Redskins and Lakehead College Mustangs. He also played in a fast ball league with Club 17 as a shortstop and later went on to coach.Aldo was employed with Canada Safeway for over forty years as a Produce Manager. He was hard working and thoroughly enjoyed interactions with customers and fellow employees. It was through Safeway that Aldo met the love of his life Ann and they married in June of 1965.In his younger days Aldo enjoyed fishing with friends, going to Duluth for family trips and going to camp as well as biking and taking walks in the boulevard area with his wife. Aldo greatly enjoyed planting his small vegetable garden each year. He loved to lounge in his back yard soaking up the sun and relaxing. He loved watching his Habs, Packers, and Yankees play and loved to rub it in when they won. He was always an early riser and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was a great man who was admired and respected by all. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who would do anything to help out his family.Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Giulia Di Blasio. Aldo is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, daughter Michelle (Rob), son Derek (Cathie), grandchildren Anthony, Julia, Kiira, and Erica; sister Lida, brother Nino (Elsie) as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.Cremation has taken place and Private Family Services will be held at a later date.
