ALISON ARTHUR Obituary

Ms. Alison Arthur passed away August 13, 2023, at home. She was born on June 4, 1947. Alison's career centred on supporting people, through counselling and managing a program providing clinical supports to children across Northwestern Ontario. Alison was a lay reader with St. Paul's Anglican Church, contributing through many volunteer roles including overseeing the gardens and leading the development of the labyrinth. Another of her initiatives is the 'blessing box' which provides open-access daily food and toiletries to those in need. Throughout her life, she brought her strength, faith, and warmth to volunteering with many organizations including the Lakehead Association for Community Living. Alison will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ainsley; grandchildren Madeleine, Elliot, and Beatrice; and other family. She was predeceased by her parents Beatrice Muriel and Edmund Thomas Charnock and her sister Ellen Charnock.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11am at St. Paul's Anglican Church, officiated by Archdeacon Deborah Kraft. Those interested in honouring Alison's life are encouraged to walk the labyrinth in the St. Paul's garden or donate to the charity of their choice in her name.

My deepest sympathy to Alison´s family. Alison was such a kind and wonderful woman. She welcomed everyone and made them feel right at home at St Pauls. I will never forget her kindness towards me, her laugh, and how she helped others. From setting up the alter, to organizing flowers, and always lending a hand, and a kind word. I will miss her.

Alison was my boss and friend when I worked for Integrated Services for Northern Children. Since retiring we had both joined the Quilt Guild and created beautiful quilts for others. She was always willing to help others.
She is now in the Lord's hands.

I met this beautiful soul at St. Paul´s Church. She encouraged me when I felt lost and was there when I found my way.

I will miss your impromptu trips with Sharon, the plays, musicals and more.

Your passion for service above self will truly be missed. My heart aches for the void that will now be in so many lives. However, I rejoice that you have now taken the greatest journey I could never plan for you, as you sit at the right hand of our Father.

Ainsley, Madeleine, Elliot, and Beatrice she loved you all so much. I never had one conversation with Alison that did not include your names. May the Lord grant you peace.

Went through public school with Allison and later coached her cousin David in Little League Baseball. She worked in the helping professions for most of her professional life. She was a gentle person. She will be missed by family and friends.

Whenever I think of my cousin Alison I always hear the sound of her laugh. Her knowledge of our Charnock family history and memories of our grandparents always delighted and comforted me. A special part of Alison´s legacy are the beautiful heirloom quilts she created. I will especially miss her fun quips of conversation and next best book to read suggestions.
Much Love, Susan Charnock
