(October 28, 1938 - November 18, 2010) Born in Sudbury Ontario to John and Mable Campbell, Allan excelled in academics, which eventually led him to the teaching profession. That is after working many famously recounted yet terrible part-time jobs in the 1950's. As a high-school librarian, he continued his education during the summers at the University of Michigan in Kalamazoo earning his master's degree. He would later be recruited to work for the Ministry of Education out of their Thunder Bay office. Combining his love of the North, zeal for education and passion for travel, Al had truly found his calling and met many lifelong friends during his years at the Ministry. It was in Thunder Bay that a fellow co-worker introduced Al to his future wife, Signy Lynne Ingimundson; together they had two sons, Scott and Sig Andrew. Al was a devoted father and instilled a solid work ethic, love for the arts/media and an energy for learning and higher education. His family is left with memories of many wonderful trips, afternoons at the movies and drives to Mission Island with a stop at Coney Island. After retiring, Al continued to keep a finger on the pulse of the education system in Ontario at his weekly coffee meetings with retired colleagues and friends. When not at the Wednesday Coffee Club he was surely traveling with family. Enjoyed trips including cruises in the Mediterranean, a voyage up the Amazon and most recently a Pacific cruise. He will be thoroughly missed by wife Signy, sons Scott (wife Meghan Christie and their son Erik) and Andrew (girlfriend Dina Marsico) along with many other long-standing friends turned family. A celebration of his life will be held in the Fireside room at the Valhalla Inn on Tuesday, November 23 from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospital for Sick Children can be made should friends so wish. On line condolences may be made through
