Miss Amanda (Mandy) Lee Sheldrake, age 21, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, August 1, 2004. Born in Thunder Bay on May 24, 1983, she attended Algonquin, C.D. Howe and Ogden Public Schools, Westgate High School and was currently enrolled at Confederation College. Mandy's love of life included a passion for music. She enjoyed creating, performing and listening to all types of music. Mandy had an extraordinary gift when it came to quickly learning any song by ear. She entered in a recital at Lakehead University and won first place for her moving rendition of "Watermark". Mandy's talents also included writing poetry. One of many poems written was selected and published by M.A.D.D. This was then distributed to all yearbooks for the graduating classes of 2001. Mandy had an infectious personality and smile that was passed on to all who interacted with her. When Mandy entered a room her positive energy radiated and made a lasting impression. Mandy also had a beautiful and angelic face which will remain as a lasting image in our hearts and minds forever. Together Mandy and her mom Jackie faced many obstacles and overcame them and became the very BEST of friends. We, her family will always remember Mandy as the beautiful, shining angel of music who will always remain in our hearts. Mandy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her mom Jackie Pushie, father Gary Sheldrake, sister Kara Simpson, "Nanny" Margo Adduono, as well as by her aunties, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Anglican Church, 808 Ridgeway Street East, with Archdeacon Mark S. Conliffe officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
