It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of André Joseph Ferdinand St. Denis at the Nipigon Hospital on March 27, 2024.
André was born on March 12, 1939 in St. Lazare, Quebec. He was one of eleven children: Denise, Jeanette, Lucien, Lucette, Rene, Rejeanne, Lise, Gabrielle, Helene and Annette.
On November 14, 1959 in Nakina, André married the true love of his life, Margaret Goldberg.
André had various jobs throughout his life. He worked for the railroad, Esso, Great Lakes and various courier companies. He was most proud of his own business, "St. Denis Deliveries", that he started in Thunder Bay; he would deliver prescription medications city-wide for most pharmacies.
André was the happiest and most content spending time with his family. He also enjoyed many years with his family at the Goldberg family camp, known as McKirdy.
Our dad was a truly great man who would do anything to help his family and friends in any way he could. Dad would sure make us laugh, telling us some crazy stories from back in the day. Our dad was also known for his very loud laugh that was unique. We will all cherish the great memories for years to come. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
André is survived by his son André Jr. (April) and daughter Penny (Rui); grandchildren: Melissa, Paul (Sharlee), Jordan (Val), Justin, Kyle, and Josh (Charity); great grandchildren: Mick, Alex, Brooklyn and Daniel; daughter-in-law Theresa; sisters: Denise LeCain, Jeanette Dowhanek, Lise Constatine (Mike), Helene Houghton (Graham), Annette Labine and brother Rene St. Denis (Lisa); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his father Albert and mother Regina, wife Margaret, daughter Cheryl and son Fern, as well as sisters Lucette, Rejeanne, Gabrielle and brother Lucien.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff for all the great care and compassion for our dad during his short stay at the Nipigon Hospital; a special thank you to his family doctor, Jennifer Lawson. We would also like to thank our cousin Cathy for all the help at the hospital.
Cremation has taken place. As per André's wishes, he will be laid to rest with Margaret at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mom and Dad together again.
